Loading...please wait.

Well, I'm tired of looking at an unupdated blog page, so I'm updating it. It won't make me a better blogger, but I'll feel a little better about the content...when I'm done.

I've been following YouTubers and expanding my followings over there recently, rather than following the webcomics (hence the adjustments and downgrades in the sidebar). I've found some very nerdy ones, and found some new music along the way. Links in the sidebar. On that note, I've been thinking that the way I rant - verbally, often to myself, with varying levels of gesticulation - would be better suited to vlogging than blogging. The downsides: I can't/won't vlog in the same conditions under which I would blog (levels of attire and personal hygiene), and I don't like people seeing my fat self. Camera quality and video editing ability are relevant, but much less significant, points of interest.

I've been trying to find a few schools I'd want to apply to for my 2nd Bachelor's degree, but most schools don't accept 2nd degree candidates, or don't provide them with the same level of support as regular students if they DO accept them...so that's been slow-going. I'm sure I'll find somewhere...I just want to find somewhere I'd actually be willing to attend. NOW is not the time for making major changes to my plan, since applications for where I'm going after this year of school need to be settled and out early in the fall. People listen and respond to my plans with an interesting mixture of shock and awe...because they're impressed that I'm planning on going through that much more schooling, and terrified at the thought of doing such a thing themselves. Most people don't want to be a professional student, either literally or figuratively. I already knew I was weird.

Internet Plague

Fuck my life.

I didn't want to. You know that. What bugs me most is that the person I was most trying to connect to THROUGH it apparently never comes online. Failtastic.

Left Turn @ Albuquerque

So, I've got my "lucky bamboo" set up in my small aquarium. It has more space and more stable conditions that way, and I want to see how well it does in the safety of its acrylic pond...but mostly, I think it'll need to live in a tank when I take it home because otherwise it'll just be cat food like the last stalks were. The thing about "lucky bamboo"...it isn't lucky, it isn't bamboo, and it isn't even from Asia. It's from Africa. It was just conveniently repurposed for feng shui.

I guess it's lucky for ME that I don't care what it really is (Dracaena sanderiana), or that the only thing it has in common with actual bamboo is that they're both segmented (hence the misnomer, I suppose) monocots. They aren't even in the same taxonomic order. It's cute, and that's good enough for me. At least until I'm shopping for hardwood flooring, then I'll care about the distinction between D.sanderiana and real bamboo...only...real bamboo isn't wood. It's grass. Almost 1500 species of overgrown grass.

...and I'm not sure why I care more about this than the Physics II homework sprawled out in front of me. Call it a convenient accident that I stumbled upon a tidbit of new (to me) information I could rant about, thus facilitating my well-honed procrastination skills.

By the Way

Since I was going to have classes that started at 8AM and ended at 8:30PM regardless of whatever else I did, I decided to give myself class 3 days a week. This way, I can do work on my days off in between classes, and get other stuff (like grocery shopping) done during the week if need be. Or, I'll just end up sleeping. Whatever.
